Easter Week 2013 cruise

Sail Date: March 2013
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)

Our first cruise ever. Weather is not in RCL's control. Ship was comfortable in good and bad weather. Pool was fine, hot tub is fine. Windjammer food edible, repetitive. Dining room fare a step up. Portofino was enjoyable. We are not the types to heap loads of food on our plates nor make more than one go through the chow line. It was acceptable. Room was adequate although we found you can loose track of daylight in an interior room. Bar service was good and the pool bar tenders were especially fun. Casino was nice although they do allow smoking. The smoking sections on the upper deck was something we tried to navigate away from. We were on vacation and tending to want to relax more than partake in the other feature RCL offers customers. There was plenty of activities if you cared to get involved.

The most notable thing about the cruise is the exceptional employees. Our room attendant was exceptional! Very positive attitude and attentive to any small request.

The rest More of the crew worked just as hard and all were welcoming and friendly.

If you prefer a good customer experience on service and you not a professional food critic, this is the cruise line for you.

I would recommend they drop Nassau from the stop. You do not want to wander far or late from the ship. You may not feel safe at that port. The reef snorkel trip there was fun and worthwhile. Less

Make sure you have the attendant put the single beds together. Make sure whoever takes the upper bunk can navigate in and out especially if the room is dark. Bathroom shower entrance may be tight for large folks but not an issue for us.

Port and Shore Excursions

Snorkeling can be tough and do not go outside the cove unless you are a certified diver. Food at beach was items from their Windjammer food court from the ship. Edible but not memorable. Not enough umbrellas for rental, so book that early. They have more umbrella holders at the rental stand than umbrellas there so I can not understand why so few are available for rent.

I did not rate as we just got off to shop at Ron John's. make sure you confirm the jitney bus fare, I believe the outbound trip they ripped us off $15 each vs. $6. Some folks tried Disney World and were sorry they did as this was the height of the tourist season for them, way too crowded they said.
