Having cruised previously with Celebrity and had a great trouble free experience I was looking forward to Princess which has good reviews. My stateroom (B424) was difficult to access, my wheelchair had to be folded and due to a lack of space storage was difficult. Exiting the stateroom was even more difficult. Regretfully many staff seemed uncaring and unhelpful (including the Officers). I am wheelchair user and found it difficult to get around the ship without assistance (in a party of 5 adults who helped). The only areas where staff offered to assist was in the restaurants, and self service areas. On previous cruises it has been a rest for all the family as staff always offered to assist but not on the Princess Emerald. Doorways were often blocked by sun beds and twice the US passengers refused to move to allow me through. Staff used the wheelchair accessible rest rooms some of which were not cleaned very well. Bar staff and waiters around the pool areas on deck 15 only walked around the edges of the deck or upstairs to the sun deck (16), Access to this deck (and accessible rest rooms was very difficult due to heavy doors and deck surfaces, yet two Officers offered no help whatsoever. These issues were reported to Passengers Services but nothing changed. Overall my family and I were disappointed by the lack of customer care demonstrated, it seems that there was a lack of training and a small number of unhappy, uncaring, unhelpful staff. On a positive note the food was as expected...no complaints and good service, the entertainment good except for the annoying repeated programmes on the big screen.

Cabin review:

Inside Cabin (B424) door heavy and door width requires wheelchairs to be folded, results in difficult access for wheelchair users Hanging space good, shower tight but powerful

Port and Shore Excursions

Good wheelchair access and friendly helpful locals. Beware of rip off prices in bars, a pint of lager $14.
