Embarkation was surprising swift but maybe that was because we were late afternoon boarders. We were also impressed that our cases were delivered to our deluxe outside cabin on deck 8 even quicker! The cabin was very spacious, well appointed with loads of cupboard and drawer space. We had a couple of niggly problems which I had to report ie snowy TV reception and the water in the hand basin not releasing. Now, I ask myself did the previous occupants not watch any television or wash in the hand basin!Any way surely the cabin steward should have noticed! A word of warning about outside cabins on deck 8, there is a large sports court directly above so there can be really annoying and loud bouncing ball noise which can detract from a bit of piece and quiet when in the cabin.
Entertainment is very British with the usual brash double entondre humour on board English comedian called Buster. If you closed your eyes you would swear you were listening to Lenny Hendry!! The all singing and dancing company were just fantastic and if I recall they performed 6 completely different multi change, high energy routines on this seven day cruise! This was on top of their other entertainment help outs over the week.
The food in both the Compass Rose restaurant and the 24hr bun fight Lido Buffet eatery were again very British fare with "Home from Home" food with emphasis on quantity rather than quality. The did have a cover charge restaurant called Sirocco`s A La Carte which we never tried mainly because of the £19 surcharge!!A bit over the top for Thomson when you consider the bigger cruise companies charge on average $20
To sum up, if you are older single cruiser or a couple, and is your first or second cruise, not looking for glitz, like an array of bars and public lounges with food that is only acceptable with fantastic show times then this is the cruise for you.
