Travel to and from Port, Embarkation and disembarkation

We made our own way to Southampton and had previously completed on line check in - this facility is fantastic, and we were on the ship within minutes of arriving at the quayside. No lines, no hassle - full marks here! Disembarkation was easy too; we ignored all the rules and just decided to carry our entire luggage off ourselves once we were ready to go which was 0830 after breakfast. There seemed to be no information about this but it was common practice on Cunard and so it seemed the best option to me!
