We have sailed with Celebrity on a number of cruises and very for the most part happy. That is until we sailed on The Celebrity Summit out of San Juan Puerto Rico on March 16, 2013.
First let me start by telling you about what was right.
The crew were tremendous. They were always smiling, Happy to help in anyway they could and polite.
Our stateroom number 8105 was very comfortable for an inside cabin, our first, we usually take a balcony. However, upon entering the room on the next to last night we discovered that there was a leak from the ceiling that had created a puddle on the floor. I called and within 15 minutes the crew was there checking it out. However it took over 2 hours for them to find the correct person to make the repairs and towel dry the floor. After 2 o'clock in the morning they finally left. It took us until 4:30am to fall asleep. Stuff happens and they did refund us for our excursion the next morning.
Now here is where Celebrity has gone wrong, More really wrong. The main dining room food was just OK not what you would expect from a 5 star rated ship ( I would give her a 3 star ). Lunch was no longer served in the main dining room and the buffet areas. Now only the buffet served lunch for the masses. The food in the ocean court buffet was pathetic. Not only was the food pretty bad, but the selection was the worst we have had on all of our cruises. On several ocassions we went to have a late meal and found that most of the ingredients for the pasta station were empty. The chef complained he was out. This was not unusual for the venue. Poor selection and food quality. We had sailed on the Infinity the Summit's sister ship and had a wonderful time. Not on this ship.
The staff at the buffet always seemed to be wondering around while things were empty and needed refilling. EX. the coffee pots were empty, no decaf tea, no cream, on and on and on. This was everyday. Management asked me what could they do to improve the service. BIG mistake. I took them through a 15 minutes explanation of what was wrong. They looked surprised. This was the same guy that went around examining everything and never saw anything wrong or didn't care.
NOT worth the money. I will stay with Princess where we have NEVER had a bad cruise and it was less money. Less
