Just got back from a week on the Celebrity Summit. Still smiling and still a little tan.
Summary: An amazing vacation and and amazing ship. Have taken many cruises and what sets this ship apart is the Officers & Crew. I have never before experienced such an engaged and caring team. Every crew member said hello. They all stopped and talked to everyone. They each appeared to genuinely care about taking time to make passengers feel welcome. In terms of their engagement, one quick example, there was a theme party held in the open air poolside late one evening, the "White Party"! You have never seen so many Officers present and actively participating in the celebration..dancing and socializing for hours. Even the Captain himself was present and stayed for a long time smiling and warmly greeting everyone. He truly is the Master of this vessel and he set the tone for the entire ship. So in short, the culture of this cruise ship (The Summit) completely sets it apart from all other cruises I have taken on both higher end and lower end cruise lines. Note: If you want to be left alone on your vacation that is respected, but if you want attention or just have a question the crew on the Summit was always visible and eager to help.
Food: MDR is fine but THE BEST secret is the food at Qsine, Normandie, and Blu. The cover charge ($45) is well worth it. The service and the quality of food is by far superior, and although some are offended by the cover charge, realistically one could never find cuisine and ambiance like this in for such a low price. I cannot recommend the speciality dining enough. A true highlight of the cruise!
