We sailed on the Millennium on March 3rd from Singapore to Hong Kong. This was not one of the better Celebrity ships that we have been on. The shower and the veranda were the high points of the room. The linen was shabby both in the room and at the pool. The lounge chairs on the deck were old and dirty. The dining room food was good but not great like it us to be. The buffet gave more choices and was really quite good. There was always pizza. The French fries were to die for. We never tried the "Specialty restaurants" as was written by someone else, they are 100% profit for the cruise lines because they are made in the same galley and do not cost them anything extra. To start the cruise off on a low note, we were promised a bottle of wine from the Celebrity travel agent that we booked the cruise through. It was not there upon arrival, so after a few hours we went down to the desk and asked about it. They said that they didn't know anything about the wine and would check it out, but that our daughter had purchased a premium drink package that should have been in the cabin when we got there. The surprise was ruined but they said they would deliver it right away. This went on for two days and it was obvious that we were not going to get it so we said to cancel it. They said OK and never offered an apology or explanation. We did get the wine, on day 5 of the cruise. In talking to other people who were first time Celebrity cruisers and were complaining about the state of the ship I did stick up for Celebrity saying not to judge them by the Millennium. In Hong Kong we docked at the NEW pier, which was in the middle of nowhere, with a band, dancers, speeches and the media, but no way of getting anywhere except by shuttle to the Kowloon Station Mall. This took from 20 to 40 minutes. Once there you could get transportation. But you would have to come back to there and then take the shuttle back to the ship. All said and done, if this was my first Celebrity cruise, it would have been my last. The Millennium is in bad need of a refit and update. This is the first season for the Asian itinerary for Celebrity, I think that they should have sent a better ship.

Cabin review:

7177 one of the biggest balconies on the ship including the suites. One of the biggest showers on any cruise line. Near the elevators and stairs. Every now and then you could hear the bells from the elevators. Covenant room for the buffet.

Port and Shore Excursions

Hanoi was a long, 4 hr, bus ride but worth it. You have to see these citys to understand them.

Halong Bay
Halong was interesting but there were about 5000 other people at the caves also. But they were still cool.
the tour was good. Drop off at the air port was more convenent then trying to get there with the shuttle and MRT or cab. Didn't like Hong Kong very much. To much smog.
I said 4 but if you just flew in to meet the ship you would not have had time to see the Singapore do to the location of the port.
