Carnival Glory - Eastern Caribbean

Sail Date: September 2006
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

We, my DW and I were, on the Carnival Glory on a Sept. 16 cruise.

We boarded the ship in Port Canaveral at 3:00 after being shuttled in from Orlando International Airport. Cruise terminal 10 was fantastic and the Carnival staff there was more than friendly and helpful. Getting on the ship was a breeze.

After dropping off our carry-on luggage in our cabin on the Verandah deck (cabin 8301) we went up to the Lido deck to get into the swing of things. There we could see the Disney Magic as well as the Fantasy in port and getting ready to leave on cruises of their own, we also had a great view of Cocoa Beach as well as the Kennedy Space Center. We also met Fun Ship Freddy (Carnival's mascot). Weather wise, it was quite warm (88 degrees).

Shortly after we got on, we left on a week long cruise Eastern Caribbean cruise, so we went down to our cabin to get ready for our early seating in the Golden Restaurant. There we were treated to the best food and the service More was great. Every night, the dining room staff would put on a dance show for us, they even included us in their dances. We were seated with three other couples (two of whom ate with us all week).

The shows put on in the Amber Palace were fantastic; Mark Price was excellent and kept us all laughing. The two stage shows we took in were superb. Mark had everyone laughing at the Newlywed not so Newlywed game.

Our Room Steward and his assistant were great; they were always doing something or other to make people happy. They were both always concerned about the well being of the guests. For that matter the same can be said about all of the staff on the Carnival Glory, each and every one we spoke to was extremely helpful.

Our ports of call were great and will always be remembered in one way or an other. " On Sunday we were in Nassau, Bahamas, there some of the shops were closed, but then again that could be related to the day and time we were there. " Tuesday, we sailed into St. Thomas. We got there at 10:00 and left at 8:00. It was warm (or should I say hot) - 125 degrees, even the Captain said that he has never seen it that warm; however, we made the best of it.

We were off the ship by 11:00 and took the Skyride to Paradise Point. An hour or so later we returned to the dock and the Havensight mall and after having done some shopping, we were back on the ship by 1:30 - 2:00. We brought our things up to our room and then went up to the Lido deck where we took in the sun, a calypso band and some of the activities.

The next day we were in St. Maarten where we took an island bus tour and did some shopping in Marigot as well as at the shops at the dock in Philipsburg. We got back on the ship just as it started to rain - and rain it did.

The next two days were fun days at sea as we headed back to Port Canaveral. The rain had stopped, so we had two great days where we took in the activities on the Lido Deck. We were invited to a Past Guest Party in the Ebony Cabaret on Thursday evening. Our host was Mark Price.

On Saturday, we were back in Port Canaveral and had to get ready to disembark. This went smoothly, but we really didn't want to get off the ship as we enjoyed the cruise. Once on land, we boarded the shuttle bus back to Orlando International Airport and then back home.

So ended an other great week. Less
