Ship Facts: Jewel of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Jewel of the Seas Deck Plans
Jewel is well-named
We just returned from a 5-night cruise with two other couples; all of us have cruised before. We all agreed this might be the best cruise ever!

Tampa is our home port, so we drove there in the morning. Embarkation was easy and quick; we were aboard by 12:30 and enjoyed a quick lunch in the Windjammer; rooms were ready by 1 PM. Everyone had all luggage by 4 PM. Our room was not huge, but it was well laid out and had more than enough storage space. The bathroom was tiny (others have also commented on this), but we had no problems at all. Space costs money; to have a large bathroom, you need to choose a mini-suite or a regular sized suite. For this trip, we felt our accommodations were more than adequate.

The food was quite good. No, it is not five-star dining, but it is amazing that they can feed so many at the same time and make it look easy and taste that good. The Windjammer has plenty of choices at all times. Meals in the Tides dining room were delicious. We did not opt for Chops or Portofino; we asked if the meat at Chops was prime and the response was that they did not know. For the upcharge we would have preferred a positive response, so we passed on the opportunity.

The entertainment was amazing, possibly the best we have ever encountered. The dancers/singers were excellent, as were the live bands. In the Centrum there was live music every night and the dance floor was filled. In the Schooner Lounge, the piano player had the room going nightly with requests and sing-along tunes that drew people of all age groups. Dennis Charles, the cruise director, was energetic and quite an entertainer himself.

We visited Cozumel and Key West. We took no tours as we have been to both places before and wanted to wander on our own. We would have preferred more time in Key West (we were able to get off the ship at around 8 AM and had to be back on board by 12:30 for a 1 PM sailing; shops and most restaurants did not open until 10 AM).

We had terrific service in our room and in the restaurants and bars; Jewel has a great team.

Debarkation was very quick; we were off the ship by 8:45 AM. This is a cruise I would take again, any time!
