Carribean Treasures & Latin Gems

Sail Date: February 2013
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Barbados

We have just returned from 2 weeks cruising in the gorgeous Caribbean on the Thompson Dream sailing out of Barbados. We booked a grand suite as a birthday present for the good lady and I have to admit it was well worth the money.
The large balcony was very handy especially on sea days when sun loungers were at a premium and peace and quiet was needed. Lots of towels left on sunbeds for hours on end without any bodies lying on them, same old story !!!!
The cabin service was exceptional with our cabin steward Ronaldo V catering for our every need. Limited free laundry service (3 items each per week)and complimentary champagne (1 per week) was much appreciated also.
Bar service especially in the Ocean an Medusa bars was excellent with lots of good natured banter with the bar steward especially Alex and Wendell, thanks for the hangovers boys !!!!
On the down side sail aways were non existent, having experienced the party atmosphere that normally More makes the sail aways special on all the other cruises we've been on (Thompson included !!!) we couldn't understand why they were non existent. Thompson please note !!!!!
The ships crew were paranoid with Novo Virus to the extent that they were ordered not to shake hands even on the Captains Gala night, also for the 1st two days each week in the buffet diners sirens and lido we were not allowed to serve ourselves and I felt a bit like Oliver Twist asking for more all the time.
Having said that, the staff were excellent in the Orion restaurant especially Ing and Ritchie the wine waiter who catered for everything we needed, food was excellent and plenty of choice. The only criticism is all the fuss that goes with the cabin number, the supervisors in the restaurants soon noted that we had the suite and fussed around us all the time to the point where it became a bit embarrassing and overpowering really.
Dined in the Sirens Grill several times to avoid the fuss and recommend it thoroughly.
All in all a good cruise, ship getting a bit old in places but I would go again (Sail aways pending !!!!) Less
