NCL Epic Mar 09 - 16, 2013
After reading about the Suite Life experiences, I really wanted to try it out.

This was our 4th NCL cruise, 1st in a Spa Suite.

March 07 - we stayed at the Marriott Vancouver Airport since our flight was at 8 am the next morning. In the morning, they provide Starbucks coffee in the lobby while you're waiting for the airport shuttle.

March 08 -- flew from Vancouver to Los Angeles on Westjet, then on American to Miami. Westjet arrives in Terminal 2 & American departs from Terminal 4. It's about a 10-15 min walk outside or you can take the shuttle. For meals, terminal 2 has California Pizza Kitchen; terminal 4 has a pizzeria ( best deal is to buy a whole pie to share ) Terminal 4 is very cramped. Or eat at Tom Bradley terminal in the food court upstairs ( Tom Bradley is between Terminal 2 + 4 ). I hadn't flown American for several years & really enjoyed the experience. Just before landing, the seatback television shows you what gate you'll be landing at & where the baggage carousel will be. The flight attendants also announce connecting gate numbers. If you booked an airport hotel, they probably offer a shuttle. You just need to take the elevator upstairs + cross the street to the middle section where people stand to wait for their shuttle to go by. ( The shuttle might not come by for 30mins so you might want to take a taxi instead ). We stayed in a King Suite at the Comfort Suites Miami North. Wow, it was so spacious. The bathroom looked like something out of a showroom. They have a hot breakfast in the morning and a free shuttle to the port provided by KSA Tours. The rep will ask you about your return. They offer departure transfers for $ 10 per person. NCL is $ 15 per person.

March 9 -- took the 12:45 pm shuttle to the port. The shuttle driver unloads all the luggage, asks "Does everyone have their luggage ?" THEN everyone takes their luggage & tips him at the same time; otherwise he'll ask 'did you tip me ?". We checked in at Terminal C. It was great to walk in, see the sign for HAVEN guests, walk in + be check in, whisked upstairs past all the lines. The only problem was when we wanted to stop for the embarkation photo & someone thought we were cutting in line. The concierge was Anoop. Our butler was Rogin and Dale was the stateroom steward.

Today's Highlights: Guided Ship Tour, Sail Away Party, Splash Academy Welcome, Blue Man Group, Battle of the Sexes Game Show, Family Movie Under the Stars, Howl at the Moon, Charlie Love Band, Party Under the Stars, The Perfect Couple Game Show, Traffic Light Party

( we thought we had to turn our clocks fwd because it was DST but they didn't do it till tomorrow night )

March 10 -- we did the Nickelodeon Breakfast. You start with a fruit plate + a beverage either orange/cranberry juice or coffee with some mini muffins + pastries. Then, you get a plate of eggs, sausages + hash browns. They come out & sing + then they call you by table number to take pics. Better to bring your own autograph book as the one they're selling is $ 14.99 The characters don't really sign the book, the handlers have a stamp that they stamp onto your book.

Today's Highlights: Breakfast with Nickelodeon, Murder Mystery Lunch with Second City, Deal or No Deal Game Show, Nick LIVE Poolside, Cirque Dreams, Manhattan Motown Cabaret, The Second City, Blue Man Group, Newlywed Game Show, Karaoke Madness, NNO "Dancing under the Stars", Howl at the Moon

March 11 -- Today's Highlights: Breakfast with Nickleodeon, Murder Mystery Lunch with Second City, Slime Time LIVE, Cirque Dreams, Manhattan Motown Cabaret, Nickelodeon Meet & Greet, Blue Man Group, The Second City, Family Game Show Night, Charlie Love Band, FABBA Theme Night, The Glitter Ball

After you exit the cruise terminal, walk across the street to the middle section. That's where all the shuttle companies pick up passengers. There was also a HOHO option with luggage storage + airport drop off. Ask at the shore excursions desk onboard.

10:15 Independent guests on deck 14

Comments: I travelled with my DH. We only ate in the Epic Club enjoying the peace + quiet + Moderno ( what a fantastic deal this is for only $ 20 pp ). By the 3rd day, we decided to shower when the ship wasn't moving to avoid a flood into the room. The trivia prizes are ceramic mugs, water bottles, pens + keychains. We missed having the chocolate buffet, themed deck parties or bbqs. Legends in Concert was only Whoopi Goldberg, Jimmy Buffett and Michael Jackson. Second City wasn't as funny as when I saw them on the Gem. Deal or No Deal, Majority Rules, 55 to Stay Alive was fun. The people who volunteered for the Dating Game really didn't put any effort or creativity into their answers so it was really boring ( except for Jerry ). We felt a lot of motion in our stateroom 14147. One night, it felt like someone was jumping on our bed. If you want to buy candy/chocolate, you have to go to Sandbar ( not in the regular gift shop ). We wanted to try the sweet potato fries at Spice H20 but it was never open. Could I have asked the butler for this ? We only asked him for firmer pillows. We enjoyed the cruise and hope to sail in a suite again soon.
