Ship Facts: Carnival Valor Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Valor Deck Plans
Not as much FUN as Norwegian
This was our 4th cruise - we skipped all the negative press, and this review has no prejudice based on such. Overall, the ports made it worth it and that was our goal. Perhaps we are spoiled with Norweigan, but never again will we use a 'fun Carnival' ship

The Good

-Circle C - better age group, 12-14's, perfect for our son

-room - good use of storage/cupboards

-Ports - got to see many islands on one trip

-local travel agent matched our needs perfectly, as usual, and went out of her way to take good care of us.

-Steakhouse - of course, at $120+ better be.

-Comedy Shows

The Bad

-pool area always under some sort of shutdown/construction

-did a chocolate 'buffet' station - for an afternoon while most were in port...NCL does an entire night

-not the cruise's fault, but on our ST Lucia excursion, they left without 2 people, and we had to go back for them, adding an hour to the excursion in traffic..should be: you snooze, you lose.

-Fun shops not open until departed ports...they would do better being open prior too, for lotions, meds, clothes, drinks...bad business

-no access to walk the promenades on deck 3 or 5...only allowed on top deck, where there are only 4 total entrances back to the elevators...dumb too.

The Ugly

-entire ship design..by putting main dining halls mid ship for 3 floors, you couldnt get to one end of the ship from another without going up a few levels and back down...retarded

-SAFE - sealed with your credit card, instead of room key - so always had to carry credit card too....duh.

-PLUG (s) - only ONE per room....wtf is with that?

-good luck figuring out when buffets are open - regularly 2-3 of the stations always closed

-COLD FOOD - there are NO TOASTERS, so they pre-toast some bread and it's cold by the time you get, just like the eggs

-FOOD RATIONING - Bacon - have a server to dole out 2 slices per request. ps, good luck finding Bananas, strawberries, tomatoes

-overall, food offerings poor - why is Fish and Chip station and the Burrito station only open for lunch?

-SAN JUAN departures...3.5 hours to get to/thru customs from dock. 2 people doing Elite, 1 doing the rest - lots of chatting amongst themselves, we use United desk for Air Canada so just a confusion clustermess.
