180 degrees from ordinary indeed

Sail Date: March 2013
Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
Embarkation: Other

We took our first ever Windstar cruise from Colon Panama to Porto Caldera Costa Rica earlier this month. We were a bit worried as this would be the smallest ship by far that we had ever been on and were not sure what to expect! We were very pleased with our experience and having been on many other ships were surprised with the number of firsts we experienced from swimming of the back of the ship to marvelling when they unfurled the sail to watching Local fishermen bring aboard fresh caught Mahi Mahi that was BBQ'd on the pool deck for lunch!
We found the food to very very good both in the main dining room and at Candles, the dining under the stars option that was great. The staff were also very friendly and as advertised all would smile, say hello and most knew us by name within the first 2 days!!!
You need to be prepared for a smaller than normal cabin but there was still plenty of room and lots of space to unpack!
Unfortunately due to very high winds we missed our first More stop at the San Blas Islands but even this disappointment couldn't dampen our time!
Another unexpected bonus is all the marine life you will see as you sail along! We saw dolphins, pilot whales, flying fish, manta rays and a sea snake!
Oh, I almost forgot, we also went through the Panama Canal! Really cool.
Overall we give Windstar very high marks and look forward to "sailing" with them again soon! Less

Cabin review: Wind Star Category B Deck One 230

Cabin 230 is located towards the middle of the ship which is ideal in case the seas are rough!
