I need to start this review by stating that every one's expectations are different, some people whinge and moan for the slightest reason when it is ones own issues they are moaning about and not necessarily Celebrity Cruises problem.
We joined the Millennium in Hong Kong having been on the go for some 30 hours. Our embarkation was smooth an no hold ups. Our baggage arrived at our state room before we did. This is the 2nd time we have sailed on this ship, we have also sailed the Constellation so we know our way round without effort.
We had been looking forward to this cruise with some anticipation as we knew the Cities we were to visit were 3 - 4 hours from the docks visited.
We found the tour fees a little excessive, however we understand the way these are delivered including guide, entrance to main attractions, insurance etc.
Vietnam Day 1. Tendered port, Celebrity FAILED badly, We booked a tour of Hanoi some 3-4hrs (including 45 mins rest break at a souvenir store)the longest possible trip on that day but for some reason we were left in the Theatre for 2hrs and a delay leaving the port. I beleive our tour should have been one of the first to leave that day. Celebrity said technical problems were to blame. To cut a long story short our trip to this magnificent city was shortened because we arrived late and needed to return to the ship only to find out we had to stop at the same Souvenir store for another 45 minutes which was totally unnecessary. This is our only complaint for the whole 14 days we travelled.
Our observations.
Housekeeping is excellent, except the State Rooms in places are looking a Little worn. We are led to believe they are due an upgrade soon.
Entertainment. I would agree with previous comments, re: on board singers and dancers are not utilised enough. It would be a better experience if they performed before the guest entertainers giving a feel of a variety type show.
We sailed the Millennium 30 months ago and did not expect to see the same entertainers this time. The cruise Director Steve did a remarkable job having suffered a bereavement in his family as we departed Hong Kong.
Food and Beverage: No complaints here, food was plentiful and varied.
Pools were clean and warm, Towels plentiful however the life long problem of people reserving beds is still evident and Celebrity need to implement their own rules of not reserving beds.
Stores on board are the usual you would expect.
Casino: Not used.
Daily Entertainment and Celebrity Life. A variety of Seminars and Guest Speakers were excellent, a full and varied day of activities are available.
General observations. The Ships Crew members are excellent and tend to every need without complaining. I believe that customers should take not that they are on board to serve and NOT Servants.
Overall, a great cruise with many memories. We cant wait for November when we sail Celebrity Eclipse.
