Embarkation: Very easy. We brought on 12 bottles of wine/champagne and paid the corkage. Our stateroom and all others were ready by noon. Our baggage arrived by 4:00 pm. We had ordered a bar setup (one bottle of vodka) and it was there.
Crew: Our steward was very good. We requested that the refrigerator be emptied, the beds pushed together and we requested lots of ice. We got ice morning and afternoon. Beds were combined and new sheets added. Also requested a lounge chair on our large balcony.
Although I've read of others who thought the crew was impolite or didn't like their jobs, that was not our experience at all. We talked to several crew members - waiter, bar tender. They have been with NCL for 10 or more years. We talked contracts, working hours, conditions, housing. It sounded pretty good and they were definitely fans of NCL as an employer.
Room: Smallest ever, and we had the one with the bed near the door, but we got used to it. It did have TONS of storage. I took extra hangers which came in handy. I also took my over the door shoe bag and put it on the towel rack by the shower. Worked well.
The balcony was great as have been all our aft balconies. Because there were so many sea days, we didn't use it as much as we might have otherwise. There was so much to do on the ship!
Didn't mind the separate toilet, shower and sink. In fact the curtain you could pull made for a nice dressing area.
RESTAURANTS: We started out in Taste. It was fine at lunch and dinner. We also had breakfast there one time.
We went to Le Bistro twice and it was excellent. Ordered two appetizers each with no problem. Loved the duck and the lamb as well as the escargot.
We really liked the sushi bar and ate there a total of 3 times, both at lunch and dinner.
Breakfast at O'Sheehans once. Corn beef hash and fried eggs -- very good.
As above, had a few lunches and dinners at Taste.
The buffet was amazing. Had breakfast there a couple of times and snacks now and then. Hamburgers were very good. Hot dogs just ok.
Also buffet lunch at Spice H20 was good.
All Indian food was good. I love Indian.
BARS and ENTERTAINMENT:
We liked the guitar player at Maltings. We spent quite a bit of time there -- maybe too much.
One night the guys from Howl At the Moon accompanied the guitar player - singing. That was good too. We also went to Howl at the Moon and it was great.
Other bars we hit - Martini Bar. Mainly the booze came from our room.....
Obviously there was a lot of entertainment on the ship that we didn't take advantage of. I had booked Blue Man Group for the first night, but we just didn't feel like going.
POOLS AND OUTDOORS
Spent a lot of time at SpiceH2O, not in the sun, but up by the bar or restaurant. We came back early from St. Maarten and didn't get off in Nassau, so the hot tub was empty and we spent some time there.
We read a lot so, the area by the buffet was good for that. I'm not a sun person (because I used to be..._ so pretty much stayed in the shade.
Had a flight at noon, so did our own. We were OFF THE SHIP by 7:45 and at the airport in time to get an earlier flight home. It was amazing.
All in all, a very fun trip on a very big ship.
