Our party of four arrived in San Juan on 2/08/2013 for a 2/10/2013 sailing on AOS. We spent two nights at the Caribe Hilton which is overrated and overpriced. We arrived at the dock at 12:15 and found the embarkation lines a little long, but not too bad. To our delight and amazement, we were sitting on the ship having a cocktail at 12:50. We were in our cabin promptly at 2:00 and had all our luggage by 2:30. Outstanding efficiency!
This was the first time that we had sailed on a larger class ship, and we were a little leery of the larger size and crowds. However, by day two, we were loving it. Sometimes the Promenade felt a little crowded, but that is really to be expected, and you can always find a less crowded spot on this ship. There is a wide variety of bars, cafes and activities.
The itinerary for this cruise including, St. Croix, St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Lucia and Barbados. We did not take any excursions, and mostly just enjoyed the beaches, and they were all wonderful.
There cannot be enough said about the staff on AOS. From the minute we walked onto the ship until the minute we walked off, we were treated with impeccable customer service. Everybody had a smile on their face and treated us as if we were their long lost friends. We ate at the 8:30PM seating in the main dining room (table #484). Our wait staff, Ethel and Marie were not only efficient, but were delightful. We have been on 6 previous cruises on four different cruise lines. This was definitely the most enjoyable, and just what we needed.
