We sailed on this ship two years ago on a Rugby World Cup cruise in New Zealand. At that time we were quite impressed with the food especially in the main dining room. The decor of the whole ship in general is what I would call Las Vegas tacky. We were aware that about 80 million had been spent refurbishing the ship last year and were keen to discover any improvements. Quite frankly we couldn't really see any . The most notable change are the three speciality restaurants that have been established. There are now small flat screen TVs in the suites, some modifications to the bathroom and the rest such as furnishings etc is unchanged. It seems that most of the money has been spent on the new restaurants with the aim of getting clients to pay for their meals so that they can recoup the costs. The food in the main dining room is really awful compared to how it was previously.Quality is poor and portions are small and no I am not American. At the Windjammer buffet the quality is very variable. At breakfast several times the hash browns had been so over deep fried that there was nothing left of the insides. Similarly the sausages one of which actually snapped when dropped onto a plate , it was so overcooked as was the bacon frequently. I can only assume that Royal Caribbean are trying to get us to fork out for meals at the new restaurants, which we in fact did six nights out of 11 !! The other issue we had was regarding the beverages. We purchased the Premium beverage pack which included most beers, spirits and House wines. What we did not expect was that House wines meant two choices , Red or White !! No choice of type of whites or reds. The wines were cheap Californian plonk , the red being undrinkable and the white variable. This last was amazing, the white offered was a "le Terre " chardonnay, unfortunately that was only what the label said. What you actually got varied from bar to bar and bottle to bottle. I am referring to the fact that what was poured from the same labelled bottles was completely different. Sometimes it was like a Sauvignon , sometimes a Sauterne and occasionally a Chardonnay. The beverage manager on board confirmed that there was no consistency and was quite embarrassed about it. It is bad enough being unduly restricted to just simply red or white house wines; they could at least ensure that what we actually got was consistent. We also found the music on the pool deck blaringly loud, the pools are very small and now full of very large people. Quite frankly we would rather pay more next time for a better quality cruise. We consider Rhapsody to be more of a 3 star than a 4 star quality.

Cabin review: Junior Suite

JS8032
Very noisy as the pool deck is directly above this cabin. After two sleepless nights we had to move to a cabin further back on the same deck. They are well aware of the noise issues on this deck. It is very bad that you are asked to pay a premium for a suite which turns out to be in possibly the worst area of the ship.
