Ship Facts: Carnival Fantasy Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Fantasy Deck Plans
Family of six cruise Fantasy out of Charleston SC.
Okays its the beginning of March now and been home for a few weeks, time to give a review of the FANTASY. First let me start off by saying that we are a family of six Myself 33yr, wife 29yr, and four sons ages 13, 11, 5, and 3. We all are first time cruisers. We came from Ohio to Charleston SC, are cruise didn't leave till Monday so we went down early to check out Charleston and got there on Saturday night. We stayed in North Charleston at the Quality Inn for $150 for two nights. Sunday we took the day to check out the town and to see wear we were going in the morning witch worked out well.

*EMBARK

On Monday morning we checked out of the hotel and headed to the port around 9am we knew that we were early but when we just drove by we saw they were letting people in so we went in. What it was is you could drop off you luggage but they were not letting you park yet they took are luggage and told us to come back around 11am. So we just drove around till about 1030am and hey they let us in. We paid the $85.00 for parking witch at first I though was steep but hey are car was in a warehouse the whole time. After parking we walked out of the warehouse and got on a bus witch took us to the terminal.(3 min ride)then into customs building boy they cram a lot of people in here. waited in line about 20 mins for customs and then 10 min in line to check in with Carnival. In total from parking to ship about 40-45 mins. Not to bad.

*Rooms

We were told the rooms would be ready at 1:30pm we got done eating lunch around 12:15pm and really wanted to explore the ship but we all had carry on's so we said hell with it and went to are room around 12:45pm and they were ready. We were in rooms M236 & M232 side by side witch worked out well we put the older boys in one room and the little ones with us. ARTHUR was are room steward and he was the BEST... Did I say BEST yes BEST he treated us like family and really took to the older boys always joking with them and even teaching them how to make the towel animals. The rooms weren't that bad. I read tons of reviews about people crying about how small the rooms are and Im here to tell you there not that bad. BEWARE TO FIRST TIMERS they put pop and bottled water in the rooms for you but this isn't included it cost about $20 for 6 cans and one bottle of water and if its not there when you check out your charge for it.

*Food

Okay we ate breakfast and lunch at the buffet and dinner in the dinning room. The food at the buffet isn't bad and just know that there is buffet on the whole back part of the lido deck. It was hot and tasty most the time the biggest challenge was finding a seat at times. As far as the dinning room food was great but the service SUCKED every night but one. The servers acted like they had no time for anything and treated you like crap. But the food was an A+ so you learned to deal with crappy service.

*Camp Carnival

Are 3 and 5yr both went to camp two times. First time was for an hour the first night on the ship and the second was the next day for 2 1/2hrs and on the second time the camp called us and wanted us to get are 3yr because he missed us. LOL yes he missed us and they didn't know want to do. LOL so we decided to just wait till the evening to do anything as adults and have there older brothers watch them in the room. Now are 11yr went to camp almost everyday and loved it. He loved he could come and go when he wanted. If they were doing something he didn't like he could just leave.

*PORTS

Are ports were Nassau and Freeport. We didn't do any excursions but we did get off the ship in both ports. In Nassau we got off and walked and did some shoping and went to a public beach and let the kids swim. We had to walk about a mile to get to the public beach but was well worth it. Freeport we weren't going to get off because we were told it was all industry and we needed to take a taxi to the other side of island for anything to do. NOT TRUE! As we were eating on the lido deck that morning and looking out at the port there were lots of shops and a live band right off the ship so we got off and spent about an 1hr or two just looking around.

*Shows & Casino

As far as show I think they need more. They had a live show the First night and comics on Tue and Thurs nights and a live show Friday night. The live shows were great wish there were more of them. The Casino well very out dated. slot were very old. Tables were pretty good.

*Photography

ALL I CAN SAY IS RUN!!!!!! LOL.... There is always people with cameras on deck 9 wanting you to pose for a picture witch was cool at first but got old fast and the pictures they take are very over priced

*POOLS

Okay the Fantasy only has one pool but the do have a water slide area with three slides and a splash area for the little ones the pool was so.so. and the slide area was great.(kiddos need to be 42" to go on slides) They also have four hot tubs one is for kids. witch was ok i guess the adult hot tubs seem to be always full and the kids well there shouldn't be a kids hot tub but the is and most the time there was about 20 kids in an 8 person hot tub.

*Disembark

Disembark was very easy out of are room and to are car in about 45 mins. and like i said in the embark we parked in the warehouse and when we got off the ship it was raining cats and dogs. So money well spent for the parking.

Hope this helps I know I read maybe 200 reviews on the Fantasy ship before we went and now reading reviews on Glory for the Canada trip in June for just me and the wife. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY SAILING
