Sensation Feb 28 - Mar 3 2013

Sail Date: February 2013
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

Had a pleasant cruise, returning sea day had disappointing weather, couldn't enjoy the pool deck as it was cold and very breezy.

Found the staff to be super friendly, we were always greeted with a "hello" or "Good morning/afternoon/evening" from any staff we crossed paths with. Perhaps they had a pep talk after the Triumph disaster to keep up a positive attitude with guests?

Embarkation very easy, we were able to take our bags directly to our stateroom, U97 and then go to lunch on Lido deck.

Find a way to afford the upgrade to this cabin; the room was very large, more than enough storage space and it will be hard to not have an equal type cabin on future cruises! Stateroom attendant was always very prompt in our request for ice, as was room service.

Meals were fine, lunch one day in Fantasy dining room and all of our evening meals there as well. Had "my time dining", was promptly seated whenever we went, service was okay, some days better than More others. I queried a first time cruiser about the meals, said they were disappointed in the food, but then admitted they only had eaten from room service and the buffet on Lido deck. Not sure why one would expect a five star meal from room service or a buffet, certainly it was adequate but the food was better in the dining room.

Adult comedy shows were funny but definitely for adults, the 80's review was cheesy but again enjoyable, as was the love & marriage show. Broke even in the casino so no disappointment there!

Nassau was all about shopping, weather not very conducive for the beach. Was disappointed the sunset catamaran cruise around the island was cancelled due to lack of participation, was looking forward to it. Bought some souvenirs, noted that the salespeople were not nearly as pushy as those in Cozumel. Lots of high end jewelry stores if that is what you are looking for. Straw market was fun to walk through, bought a few things there and the vendors there were all more than willing to negotiate price.

There were 6 ships in port that day, 3 of which were "mega-ships". After looking at them in port, I think this size ship would be less overwhelming for a first time cruiser. Sure, others may be newer and alot more amenities, but we were never at a loss for things to do and had no problems getting around or locating anything as this ship is a very manageable size.

Disembarkation was a breeze as well, we packed lighter this time and did all carry on/off.

Overall, we enjoyed the cruise. Carnival can't control the weather, unfortunately! The ship's decor is dated, but we found it to be very clean. The meals were fine, not 5 star but certainly enjoyable. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had enough to keep us busy with the various shows and such. Our only real complaint: the music played on the pool deck and in the clubs was unnecessarily LOUD! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Sensation u97

Quiet location, large closet, more than enough drawer space, dated but tastefully appointed, had a sense of "luxury" to it, bathroom much larger than regular cabin, extra large balcony with room for 2 chairs and table in addition to 2 loungers. Most definitely recommend this cabin! Worth the upgrade cost!
