We were really looking forward to trying the Princess line after 3 Carnival Cruises, 2 NCL and 1 Royal Caribbean. We were not disappointed.
Extras: We were really surprised at the "extras" that we do not see on other lines. Listening to a jazz group near the Vines we actually had a glass of peanuts brought to the table! The Vines also had the daily cocktail food which were all near the International Cafe that had daily sandwiches, soups and snacks for a midday pick me up. Late in the afternoon, they actually walk around and offer cookies and milk! Forget the towel animals.. a lot of these extras were appreciated.
Music: There was music everywhere. Every night many places to choose from with different groups playing. As a matter of fact after 6 previous cruises, we really enjoyed all the music choices on this ship. Also music by the pool at various times.
Food: We did not have any bad meals. We thought the buffet was good.. always fresh and a lot to choose from. Also we did anytime dining. NEVER had trouble getting a table and when we asked for a table for 2 a few times we always got one. The service in the dining room as great. No issues. We did room service once which was prompt. We did not do the formal nights and instead went to the Caribe cafe for the same food that was in the dining room. Again no issues.
Room: we splurged and got a balcony for the first time since it was our 40th anniversary. We really enjoyed it as it was so nice coming into and leaving the ports.
Service: our room steward was fabulous. No issues.
Room: yes the bed was not like a 5 star Hilton, but it was not too big a deal.Shower kind of small.. refrigerator and desk were nice.
Entertainment: We saw 3 music shows (missed the first night) and the magic show. We missed the comedian. We thought the entertainment was terrific. The special effects for a show on a ship were great. We enjoyed the Elton John night and the last night's Born to be Wild.
Casino had fun.. won 75 the first night that kept us going the rest of the week.
Ports: we were on the cruise that missed Princess Cays due to the weather being rough for the tenders. But we were able to go to Curacao longer. Enjoyed a mixture of shopping in the AM and then a tour that we did book through the ship and it was reasonable and we saw the island. In Aruba again, we were able to combine shopping and then a tour. We booked too late to get a beach tour. I think if i had to do it again, i would have taken a tour from the locals and just gone to the beach for the day.
Pizza and Movies under the Stars: we had the pizza a few times for lunch it was really good and the movies under the STARS we saw others enjoying with the popcorn etc.. but the timing wasn't right for us with the movies offered.
Embarkation and Disembarkation: NO ISSUES. the check in was a dream (except for the delay due to the coast guard inspection) and we took the early out and that was fairly seamless.
SPA and ART ACTION and WINE TASTING: we enjoyed the art lecture, but did not attend the auction. We did the wine tasting which was informative and hubby signed up for the 99 spa special and he enjoyed a few days there in the steam room etc.
I did line dancing one day and actually just enjoyed people watching, visiting etc.
All in all we loved our cruise and will definitely cruise Princess again.
