Having read all the negative reviews about this ship, and having recently sailed on theQM2 which was fab, we did have some reservations. However these were soon dispersed as we settled into our lovely balcony cabin, having been introduced to our delightful cabin steward Jois.
Over our two weeks on board he kept our cabin to a very high standard so no complaints in that department.
The ship has definitely got the wow factor, spotlessly clean, with wonderful staff.
The down side is the fact that the food is not wonderful, and this is especially evident in the main courses in the evening. It is certainly not a fine dining experience! The waiters while very keen to please need trained in this area , if this ship is to move up the ranks in terms of eating experiences.
The buffet however is fine if a little frantic, certainly OK for breakfast and lunch.
We opted for the all inclusive deal for drinks and this proved excellent value: the choice of drinks on offer was amazing and we all did our best to take full advantage of this (cocktails superb).
The entertainment in the lounges was very good and the entertainment team work their socks off to make each day enjoyable right into the wee small hours. We found the dress attire not to be as formal as other ships we have been on. And we're disappointed that some people just disregarded the dress code and dressed down for dinner on formal evenings ( not cruising etiquette) as we know it
All in all ,and it all depends on what it is you are looking for, this ship represents good value for money, and as canny Scots who like a bargain ,We would certainly consider repeating the experience, we really did have a great holiday.
