Background Information: Mid 40s, sailed with my partner, my parents, his parents, and my landlords (80s incl. reduced mobility) Cruise No. 56, around 19 with NCL.
Travel To Port of Embarkation:
arranged ourselves
Hotel Info:
AC Hotel by Marriott Sants
wonderful breakfast - nice and helpful staff - very clean
great location for train to/from airport / metro to/from port area
a little too "stylish" and no seperated beds available
Stateroom:
well - we booked originally the cabin just behind the bridge. But they moved us away because someone else wanted our cabin. Our cabin had a great location - just at the central stairways. We get everywhere very quickly. Cabin was designed for short-cruises in Asia: not enough storage space and too cold. We had one of the best steward: so everything else was in perfect condition and clean. Here you have more pictures of cabin: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1775054
Ship Info:
well - one of the nicest ship. Due to Asian heritage: wonderful fit incl. feng-shui. Wonderful ship-feeling - especially aft/stern.
Dining:
Garden Room was very nice. Windows was "nicer" but too loud as you sit over engines and breezy. The food was as typical NCL: always a little up and down. But the standard was much better than months ago on NORWEGIAN SUN. Glad to be guest again for Hosted Dinner. Outstanding experience: Chef's Table - just wonderful and worth every Cent - although now 89 USD. Due to new menu we were very much disappointed of the food. All the good things gone. They did their best to made us happy so the Executive Chef sent some strawberries to our cabins to excuse that we were unsatisfied with the new menu. The dinner in Shogun was nice - a little too Western. But the lunch was great - even the crew members came to have the Noodle Soups. It was very authentic. The service in Shogun was so nice that we went four times there to have lunch and dinner.
Activities:
As usually we just relax and did not go to activities.
Children's Clubs:
Yes - there were some onboard... but as we had no kids with us but no idea.
Service:
I have no claims! Only the Captain did not show up as frequently as we learned on other ships. But all others were available for us 24/7.
Entertainment:
Disappointing Elements: because we knew the show from NORWEGIAN JADE and it does not fit into the small theater. The other shows were nice but due to old technical equipment it was not a acoustic joy but visible joy. Have not seen any of the guest stars show.
Port & Shore Excursions:
Arrecife cancelled due to strong winds and technical problems. So to avoid problems when ship need to set sail we did not enter the ports.
Madeira: just wonderful - beautiful
Santa Cruz de Tenerife: nice
Malaga: Alhambra is a must
Picutres of the tours may be found here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1775054
All tours were organised by ourselves.
Disembarkation:
great because we had VIP-status
bad because we used a short-cut and could not say good-bye to the senior officers
Summary:
Just see the pictures:
