This is an exceptional vessel and that justifies the higher price. The ship is new and well laid out. It was easy for us to find our way around. The crowd was older (mid 50's and up) with few children. The food in the dining room was very good with well prepared dishes and excellent service. We had the flexible dining option and were encouraged to make reservations. However, it seemed that whenever we called the only times available were before 6:00 or after 8:30. We finally gave up on that and found if you got to the dining room before 6:30 there was no problem getting a table. Breakfast and lunch buffets were better then average. However two of the three dinner buffets we ate at were poor. The exception was the evening that featured a steak night with cooked to order beef and lamb. That offering was exceptional. Entertainment was a cut above the ordinary with several excellent performers. The big shows were pretty much the usual fare which after a while becomes redundant. The best ports were Bonaire, St. Lucia, and Barbados. Bonaire had exceptional snorkeling, Barbados beaches and St. Lucia variety. If you are into shopping, St Maarten is the best but expect big crowds as there are were 6 cruise ships docked during our stay. We stopped at St Croix which was a quite alternative to the madhouse of St Thomas. The island is not much developed for tourism so your best option is to take a boat ride to Buck Island which has good snorkeling. Overall, it was a great trip on a beautiful ship. If you have two weeks to spend I highly recommend this itinerary on the Eclipse.

Cabin review: Deluxe Veranda 1B

Port and Shore Excursions

The snorkeling was average for the Caribbean. The downtown has been taken over by the usual high end tourist shops and has lost any character. We were disappointed.
Beach Break
Beautiful beach but a bit rocky. Plenty of services available at the beach for food, drinks and rentals. The sea was a bit rough the day we were there but it still was a relaxing experience. The port is a blend of colonial color and tourist development.
This was the best snorkeling in the Caribbean. There is a small island that is a protected marine reserve. Visiting there is well worth the experience.

No shore excursion here. The port retains most of it's local color as there is limited tourist development. Be sure to take the steep walk to the fort overlooking the port for wonderful views.

Not much to do here as there isn't much development. Very quiet. Take a trip out to Buck Island.
This island has so much to see. We took an extended excursion that we booked off the ship which combined sailing, snorkeling, and trips to a steaming volcano and beautiful botanical garden. Well worth it!
Very crowded but much to do here. Visit the French side of this island for a more relaxed experience. Also for a wild experience, go to the beach by there airport and watch the planes land. They come in so low that you feel like you could touch them. Good snorkeling and the best shopping in the Caribbean.
