This report is strictly about the ship experience. I leave it to the eloquent folks in the Europe Forum to describe ports of call as we mainly booked private tours at each of the them or simply stayed on the ship.

My husband and I decided to book on Voyager because we were very interested in several of the ports of call on the Malta itinerary and because we loved Serenade of the Seas when we booked her for Alaska two years ago. We really wanted to love Voyager and tried our best to do so but compared to two years ago, the cruising experience on Royal Caribbean has really diminished. Everywhere we turned, both shore side and on the ship, we encountered a CANT Do spirit. We were always met with Thats impossible or Were not obliged to do anything more. Almost no one was willing to go the extra mile to accommodate simple requests and sometimes we were just downright lied to. For example:

Prior to departure, I called customer service to ask about the currency exchange rate on Voyager. The customer service rep professed ignorance, so I asked to speak to a supervisor who wound up merely looking up the interbank rate on x-rates.com. In frustration, I had my TA call her district sales rep who assured us that the exchange rate on the ship was in fact the interbank rate quoted on x-rates. Relying on this info, I brought $1000.00 in cash to exchange into Euros only to find out that the Voyager exchange rate was 8% costlier (1.36 dollars/euro) than the interbank rate (1.28 dollars/euro). I was therefore stuck with the cash and had to scramble for euros using my atm card at each port of call.
