We sailed the Pride of America, September 2-9, during Labor Day week. First off, if you have been reading any negative reviews, don't sweat it unless you are a super picky traveler. I have traveled on Princess, Carnival, RCCL and NCL in the past, so I think I can give a fairly accurate comparison between those lines and NCLA. This will be a long review and I will try to break it down into sections to help make it easier to read. We are two middle aged single males who enjoy traveling. We usually don't do the main dining rooms etc.

Going: We booked air through NCL and were happy with the flights. We flew from Memphis to Denver and from Denver to Honolulu. All flights were on United. We were able to upgrade to first class on the Denver to Honolulu leg and it was a fantastic flight. They pampered us beyond belief and the flight was Hawaii oriented. They had prizes, etc for guessing things like exactly what time we would be half way there.

Embarkation: We arrived in Honolulu at 2:45 pm and were met at the gate by an NCL rep who directed us to the baggage claim area. We were met there by another rep who guided us to the bus. They loaded our luggage on a Penske rental truck, we got on one of the Polynesian Tours buses, and off we went. Total time from leaving the plane to pulling away on the bus was no more than 30 minutes. We arrived at the pier and again, within 15 minutes we were boarding the ship. It was as smooth and painless as possible. The jet lag did not bother us in the least, mostly due to the first class upgrade. We stayed awake to see the city lights as we sailed away then hit the sack.
