I apologize in advance to those who will disagree with the following review. Although we know of many passengers that had the time of their lives, for us this cruise just did not total up to the sum of its parts. We visited Florida and sailed from Port Canaveral in late August, arguably the hottest, most humid and rainiest time of the year. While we certainly dont blame RCCL for that, we sorely underestimated how badly it would impact our vacation. Word to all northerners pick a different time of year.

We arrived at 4:30 p.m. after a long travel day. Thanks to the recently preceding liquid explosive scare we were required to check in at 4:30 a.m. for our 6:30 flight out of Calgary. After a short lay-over in Denver we were on our final leg and descending into Orlando (during the daily deluge) when YIKES! our plane took a lightening strike! Big boom, great flash of light (am I dead yet?). Very, very scary, although according to the pilot not uncommon. We pulled ourselves together, crammed our mountain of luggage into our rental car and set off for a 4 night pre-stay in Disney World.

We had booked a Disney package through a big on-line agency and having used them before were very confident that all would be well. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, in a distant corner of The World. Quieter than most other locations, this is where we came to learn the meaning of the word DAMP. Sitting on our balcony watching moisture condense on the OUTSIDE of the windows was a totally new experience. We do recommend this property, however as the savannah setting is very unique and the amenities and service were quite satisfactory. It was pricey though. Disney World was Disney World thats for another board.
