This cruise was booked spur of the moment by my Dad. He had never cruised before and since my Mom passed 9 months ago he has been searching for things to keep him occupied and this was a great diversion.
We drove from Ft Myers to Tampa on Thurs morning and arrived in the port garage around 12;30 and were in our cabin by 1:30 and eating lunch on Lido by 1:45. The cabin was spacious and clean and the bathroom though small had the biggest shower I have had onboard and the hot water was HOT! Our cabin steward Tennyson was only in his third week but did a great job for us. The remote to the TV did not work and turns out it was a new TV and nobody knew the code to program it. It was rather comical to come back from dinner one evening to find 3 stewards trying to program it with help from someone on the phone. It never did work but I told him it was no big deal for us but he should have it working for next cruise as some people look for anything to complain about.
The buffet in the Brasserie was good and plentiful and there was a good variety. We ate breakfast there every morning and I had omelets from the omelet station on 2 of the mornings which were very good. We never ate from the deli but did try 1 piece of pizza which was also very good. The meals in the dining room were excellent. We were originally scheduled for late dinner but since we had requested early we went to the dining room at the posted time and spoke with the maitre d' "George the Greek" and he changed it for us with no problem. He did say all he had was a table of 2 families which was fine with us.
