We began our trip the day before departure. We had delay after delay with our airline (US Air) and finally made it to Fort Lauderdale by 12:30am. We were supposed to have gotten in by 7:45pm. Stayed at the Comfort Inn on Sterling Rd in Hollywood. Chose this hotel simply because they offered free shuttle service from airport and to the cruise port. Lots of other cruisers stayed there that night and we weren't the only ones arriving late. Room was what you would expect and since we arrived and immediately hit the sack, slept in and headed straight to the cruise port, we didn't need anything extra. Not someplace I would stay if we were planning on extra time.

Embarkation was a breeze! We had two rooms. Customer service was able to adjust our seapasses so that my husband and I were in the same room and the boys were across the hall. When booking the rooms we had to have one adult in each room which would have been inconvenient to exchange keys/seapasses. A JS(8132) for my husband and myself and an interior (8131) across the hall for our two teenage sons. On our previous cruise with Carnival we had a window stateroom and the kids had an interior. Let me just say that now that we've had a balcony we will never go back. We truly loved it and used it so much. None of this "only there to sleep" business. It was wonderful to have our own private place to enjoy our sea time. We are actually thinking we will need to get adjoining balconies since it was so difficult to get the kids moving in the morning without any natural light. Both rooms were great with so much more storage than expected. Our room steward Deryck was wonderful.

Explored the ship and found her to be beautiful. She had a quiet elegance about her that was severely lacking on Carnival's Inspiration. While exploring the ship we ran into a co-worker that we had no idea was sailing too. Such a small world but somehow never managed to run into her again on the ship (ended up on the same flight home however).
