Carnival Glory - Eastern Caribbean

Sail Date: July 2006
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

It was just my husband and I on this cruise. Embarking onto the ship was a very expedient process. It took a lot less time than I had anticipated. Once onboard, it was very difficult to navigate the ship for the first 2 days, after that we got the hang of it. The food is excellent in the dining rooms for breakfast and dinner, but the buffet at the Red Sail leaves a lot to be desired...the lines are long. The desserts are very good though. The fact that soda had to be bought was quite a surprise to me, and I know others on board commented that other ships offer soda at no charge. The drinks are good. A little pricey, but that's to be expected. Beware--do not order wine by the glass, it's cheaper by the bottle. Made the mistake of ordering a glass of wine, no special kind...it was $9.00. What a shocker! Our two waiters, Vitor and Thanet were the best waiters we have ever had.

Entertainment was wonderful...always something to do, especially at night. Great shows like Las Vegas! More

The shore excursions were interesting, but we found that by the time they organized the group to go and get to our transportation to get to where we had to go, a lot of the time was eaten up. If we go on a cruise again we would definitely omit any shore excursions.

Our stateroom was very nice...clean and well-kept by our steward, Edwin who was always friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

The disembarkation was not a pleasant experience...we chose to be "self-assist" to be able to speed up the process and carry off our own luggage as we had a driver waiting for us. Disembarkation started at 7:30AM and we weren't off the ship until 10:10...and the only reason we were even off at that time was because we had to ask someone about getting off because our ride was waiting for us. The crew member told us to go, and not worry about being called by deck number which is what they were doing. There should be a better process than that.

The activities on board during the day were fun. There was the hairy chest contest and the watermelon contest. What some people won't do to be in the limelight. All in all we had a good time and the ship was clean. We were pleased with our vacation, and most staff on board were very pleasant. Less
