Ship Facts: Carnival Conquest Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Conquest Deck Plans
Carnival Conquest - Western Caribbean
Well this was our first cruise. Drove down to Galveston from Fort Worth and parked in the EZ Park parking lot. We arrived around 12:45. $55 bucks to park for a week. You can reserve a parking space and save $5 online. Lot is fenced in and has barbed wire across the top. No problem with our vehicle when we returned.

It only took about an hour from the time we parked until we were in our cabin on the boat. I panicked when we first walked into the terminal because the lines looked very long. The lines moved pretty fast, like I said it only took an hour to park and board.

The ship left on schedule and once we completed the mandatory drill, we were free to do what we wanted.

We had a room on level 10. Room number was 1039. No complaints with the room. Those who took care of our room did a fantastic job. The only thing we forgot to take were some clothes pins to hold the shower curtain. The movement of the ocean wasn't too bad. Obviously the ship moved, but we both had "the patch" so we both we ok.

We ate in the Monet all of the nights except the very last night. The food was awesome. Our waiters, Bryan from Jamaica and Jovan from S. Africa, were exceptional. We were able to eat whatever we wanted, even ate seconds a few times. We ate at the breakfast bar in the mornings and during lunch. The food was better than expected there too.

The shows were ok. Never could stay up late enough for the comic. The cruise director, Todd, was great. He made the Newlywed Shows even better. There was something for just about everyone on board.

The excursions we took were ok. Had the Ocho Rios tour with the Dunns River Falls. The island of Jamaica itself was gorgeous. The poverty in the "non-tourist" cities is obvious, but was not a factor during the trip. Was told we would be offered drugs while in Jamaica, but was pleasantly surprised when nobody did. The water fall was ok. Lot of people there. Our next stop was in Grand Cayman. We took the trip to the Turtle Farm, "Hell", and an under water boat thing. The Turtle Farm and boat thing were great. "Hell" wasn't much to brag about. On Cozumel we went to Playa Mia then went shopping.

During the trip we didn't have any problems with the overactive younger passengers. There was an equal amount of the young, middle aged, and older folks. Once back in Galveston, we did the self assist baggage option. We were off the boat and back in our truck in about an hour.

Will go on a cruise again. Enjoyed this one.
