Sail Date: Jun 2006

We set sail on the Grand Princess June 21st, 2006. The cruise was for 12 days. Prior to starting on the cruise we spent 4 days in Paris and 3 days in Barcelona. Since we spent time in Barcelona we embarked on the Grand Princess at 12:00am. We were in our rooms by 12:30pm. However, our luggage did not arrive in the room until 5:45pm.

We were in a balcony room. The room was spacious enough, however we had problems with the air conditioning, where the room was not as cool as it should have been. Also, when you flushed the toilet, there was a delay between 10-15 minutes. When we complained the staff said someone threw something down one of the toilets that prevented the immediate flushing. Besides the above issues the room was ok.

The food was good. We were originally thinking about eating in Sabatinis, however, since the food was so good in DaVincis and Michelangelos we decided not to eat in the specialty restaurant. We did hear from other passengers that Sabatinis has great food and is worth the $20 per person fee. The entertainment on the ship was ok, but not spectacular. There was a couple of Broadway like shows, two good magicians, and a very good ventriloquist. However, on one night they had a banjo/piano couple and another night a movie was shown. On a third night there was a violin and guitar player. While I do not want to be too critical of performances the smaller acts were not that good. I believe it was evident when more than half the seats were empty on many of the nights. The movie under the stars is a nice concept. After one of the shows I caught a relaxing movie under the stars along the pool.
