Alaska Cruise on NCL Norwegian Sun 2006

Preparation for Alaska Cruise: I read Jack London's book "Call of the Wild" to get the background on the Alaska gold rush of 1898. Its a wonderful book, gripping story, and excellent background about what we saw on the train in Skagway and how SE Alaska developed.

Packing: Everything I needed fit into an airline carry-on bag + baggalini and we avoided checking luggage. You can just take your bags and walk off the ship at the end. Very handy. I should have packed shorts since it was sunny and warm in port everyday. Take your most comfortable shoes, deck shoes, flip flops, and sandals. On shore I wore blue jeans (it is the Alaska wilderness after all), T shirt, vest, and backpack with extra hat, gloves, sweater and wind breaker in the pack. On board I wore acrylic washable knits. Many passengers wore wind suits and deck shoes. For the inboard gym you need whatever you wear to your local gym/swimming pool.
