Sail Date: Jan 2006

My husband and I booked this trip to celebrate our anniversary - it was our first cruise. Overall we had a great time and would gladly consider another cruise.

Embarkation - We were happy to sail out of NYC since we live in NJ and can easily take the train to the city and a cab to the terminal. Porters took care of our luggage as soon as we arrived. We were also greeted by the ship's photo crew for an embarkation photo. We weren't quite as early as we had hoped to be so we were waiting in a fairly long slow moving line but it's to be expected when you have to get 2000 guests registered and onboard. Staff was friendly though in getting people through the lines and we got onto the ship about an hour and a half before the ship was scheduled to leave.

The lido deck was serving lunch and we had a chance to settle into our cabin and wander around. We were at the fore of the ship on deck when the ship pulled out of the port and it is a spectacular view of NYC and the Statue of Liberty. The days at sea were occasionally rough - on the way home we were probably affected by Hurricane Alberto even though we were not in its path. There was one night when the glasses on the dining tables were shaking enough to fall off the tables. My husband was fine during the trip though. I was occasionally a little seasick, but using the scopalamine patch which helped greatly.
