We flew from Ohio to Honolulu on May 20, landing at 12:45 p.m. and took Star Taxi from the airport to the pier (pre-arranged by phone a few days ahead of time). We had made our flight arrangements on our own, rather than going through NCL. The cab fare was $20 for the four of us plus luggage. Embarkation went very smoothly. The line was long but moved quickly. We were in our rooms by around 2:00 p.m., went to the Aloha Buffet to grab lunch and when we returned our luggage was there.
We had 2 inside cabins on Deck 10, which were small but nicely laid out and decorated, and very adequate for a mother and daughter in each room. The cabin was very quiet and we had no problem with any noise to keep us awake at night. We had plenty of storage space for 2 women in each cabin, storing the suitcases and laundry under the beds. The beds were very comfortable and the cabin was always clean. The cabin steward for our area was Lori, and she does a wonderful job. (Towel animals on 2 nights, which delighted our daughters. Thanks again, Lori!) Even with a full ship and a heavy workload, she was always friendly and cheerful. The bathroom is small, but I had read a tip in a previous review about bringing an over-the-door hanging bag (mesh, with pockets), and it was real life-saver! We were able to store all our lotions, toothpaste, etc. in the bag and keep the small counter-top clear. No problems with the shower or water pressure once we learned how to operate the 2 controls.
The public areas of the ship were beautiful and clean. We didnt see any of the poor conditions some other reviewers have mentioned, and didnt experience any of the bad smells mentioned by some on any of the decks.
