My wife, her parents and I went on the Mariner on 14 May 2006 for a 7 night Easter Caribbean Cruise. First of all, let me say that I really enjoyed this itinerary. It was nice to only have three stops. Normally, we like cruises that make more stops, but we were looking for a more relaxing vacation this year.

There were, however, some things that happened on this cruise that did raise cause for it not being a perfect cruise, but they did not ruin the entire week for us.

We were on the sailing where the man from Ohio allegedly fell overboard in the wee hours of Monday morning. They made several announcements on the ship for the man. Our cabin steward also came by with a photo as asked if we had seen the man. We learned on Tuesday from family back home that he had been reported missing and that the Coast Guard was looking for him. We learned later in the week that he had not been found. God rest his soul. This did cause a FUBAR in St. Thomas. No one was allowed off the ship until the FBI could board and the party that accompanied the man presented themselves to the FBI for questioning. We were told to get in line for immigration at 8:30 to ensure our processing and be off the ship by 9:15. When we got to the line, it was already backed up the entire length of the promenade and wrapping around for a second time!!! What a line...people coming off elevators or coming down stairs just butted right in where they pleased...made for a lot of unhappy people.
