Ship Facts: Explorer of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Explorer of the Seas Deck Plans
Explorer of the Seas - Eastern Caribbean
Cruise- April 30th-May 7th

First day on the ship was wonderful especially just coming from a night in Miami! It was such a terrible first impression. All of our taxi drivers were rude...airport employee's rude..and to boot Holiday Inn Port of Miami...wasn't cheap but wasn't great. I was told to stay there because it's literally next store to the port. Rather than spend money to stay closer to the airport in the long run it will cost you more by taking a taxi from there.

The ship itself was very nice and clean. It's so refreshing to see a place where they actually do their jobs and enjoy it. We had a Balcony room which was very nice. Of course it's not the largest room...but it's perfect for people that want something simple, since you wont be in your room most of the time anyway.. Tons of things to do on the ship.

PORT OF CALL:

PUERTO RICO--Very dirty. Like I'm sure we are all aware every city has its bad parts. But it's just such a terrible impression on first time visitors. Reading past reviews I see a lot of people are disappointed in this port of call. BUT there is a good side to this port, the excursion. The Walking Rainforest tour is HIGHLY recommended! It was so wonderful and there had been rain throughout the day so it really made for a real RAINFOREST FEEL. SO SO SO FUN!

ST. MAARTEN-- Nothing special, It had been overcast that day so it kind of felt drabby...but there was something about this island that was nice but i didn't feel comfortable. They had some shops right off the pier but a lot of Rink e dink shops. Now don't get me wrong i don't mean to sound like a snob but i think anyone would feel that way in a place like that. That day we had gone on the SHORE SNORKEL excursion. Very fun even though it was raining..you couldn't even tell really..but wow getting right near the fish and the coral, beautiful.

ST. THOMAS-- BEST PLACE!!! It was so beautiful there, and it seemed like the people there cared about their atmosphere and kept it clean. We went to Magen's Bay, which was amazing. It was sunny and so blue!! There were a lot of people there but it was kind of nice, Everyone enjoying themselves. There are a lot of different shops right near the pier so you'd be sure to find something!!! GREAT PLACE!

NASSAU--- So-so. Nothing i couldn't have seen back at home. We took the pirates tour. It was ok. Really cool design of the place kinda short...Basically you walk through the whole thing and its not guided like it states in the booklet..There was a British navy ship right off the port. Heard about ATLANTIS but didn't go..I'm sure it would have been a nice place. Unless you have an Excursion here you might end up going back to the ship early...nothin special.

The food: WINDJAMMER WAS GREAT! Had so many different varieties; ribs, pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches, pasta, fish, chicken...you name it. It really was a great place. Dinner on the fancy nights were just as good too... Scale of 1-10 ------- (9).

I would definitely take this cruise again. 7 days felt like a month. Just a nice place to relax and have fun.
