We left Miami without a hitch. Embarkation was a breeze. That was about the only thing that went well.

We started off with 12 foot waves, causing the ship to rock furiously. We thought the stabilizers on the ship should have prevented this kind of motion, this is not a small ship, but they did not. So the first night, I spent most of the night, sick in the bathroom. It did not improve until day three. The stateroom was fine, no complaints. Comfortable bed and pillows. Ample room in the bathroom and samples of all necessary items for the week.

It began to rain after the waves subsided. Then our first stop, San Juan, was cancelled because of problems with the engine. At which time, the compensation was a 25.00 credit per person and the promise of getting into St Maarten 4 hours earlier the next morning. I was furious since the port fees were more than 25.00, not to mention the cost factored into the cruise for the port stop. We did get into St Maarten early, just in time to watch in pour rain for most of the day. So, we sat on the ship listening to the cruise director cancel one excursion after the next.
