To be fair, I have only cruised one other time, and that was with Royal Caribbean to the Bahamas. However, I feel it important to share my experiences with NCL Pride of America. The ship is beautiful, and upon arrival I was pleased with the immediate access to the ship and the ease of getting settled into our cabin. There were five senior citizens in our party and the ease of checking in was much appreciated.
Our cabin was OK with one exception. The coffee pot still had an old coffee packet in it so obviously it had not been cleaned properly. Other than that, our room was kept very clean and our cabin staffer, Alex, was wonderful. He was always ready with a smile and we appreciated his quick response to our requests.
The food was just OK. We learned very quickly that the buffets in the Aloha Cafe were not the way to go, as food was lukewarm at best. Fruit, juice and coffee were plentiful. We chose not to eat there after our first experience. Instead we ate breakfast in the Cadillac Diner. Food was prepared as ordered and our server, Maurice, was very good and had a great sense of humor. My only complaint here was one day when Maurice was not serving, we had another server who was rude and we felt like we were an imposition.
