We looked forward to our Hawaii cruise with some trepidation after reading some of the reviews on Cruise Critic. Our past experience has been on RCCL (5 cruises) but unfortunately they didnt offer the itinerary we wanted.

Ill start with the positives. We were upgraded from and inside cabin to a balcony cabin for $200 extra. That was a real treat. The food was better than I expected after reading the previous reviews. It wasnt exceptional but over-all good. The ship did make good on all of our complaints. The cabin was well appointed and clean&to start. The entertainment was very good considering there were no big-ticket performers like Charro (on our cruise to the Caribbean last year). The shore excursions were only a few dollars more than booking ourselves and after paying for cabs it wasnt worth the bother.

We cruised from Honolulu to Hilo, Kona, Maui, and Kauai. Its very difficult to go anywhere unless you have signed up for a shore excursion or pay huge cab fares. There is little within walking distance. There are free shuttles to Hilo Hatties and to Wal-Mart and K mart. Read more
