Sail Date: Apr 2006

My sister and I left from Galveston on the Grand Princess on April 8th. I flew into Houston Hobby from Love Field in Dallas and my sister met me there (she drove from her home). We spent the night in Houston and drove to Galveston the next morning. We stayed at the Sheraton Suites in Houston. Very nice hotel and about an hour drive from the pier.

The Grand really was "GRAND" - she is probably the largest ship I have sailed on. (Carnival Celebration, Elation and Pride). It was a little difficult to maneuver at first (certain elevators only go to certain floors) but by the end of the cruise, we had figured it out. We had "Personal Choice" dining which I don't know if I would do again.

Service and food was wonderful, but you just don't get to know your wait staff like you do with traditional dining and I found out that I missed that. All in all the food was good although the choices in the Horizon court was not outstanding. You basically had the same thing most days from what I could see.
