Ship Facts: Carnival Conquest Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Conquest Deck Plans
Carnival Conquest - Western Caribbean

We just got back from a great trip on the Carnival Conquest. I have cruised before, my family (husband and three teens) had not. All in all, we would do it again, we werent crazy about the food, although they offered a good variety at formal dinners, it was mediocre. That would be the only complaint we had before leaving the ship.

The service was great EVERYWHERE, from the dining staff to the room attendants. Everyone was extremely friendly and addressed us by our first names. The pool was extremely crowded on our sea days making it difficult to find a good seat around the pool. We did finally learn on our last day to get up early and save a seat which didnt really work out either being 2 of our seats were taken when I returned. Carnival doesnt allow seat saving bur everyone does it. My advice get up at 6:00 at least.

Entertainment was great, nice variety. Seemed other teens were having a great time (mine pretty much stuck by our sides ).

We did an excursion on our days at port. Jamaica was our least favorite, we went to the Rose Hall Beach outing, nice pool with slides on the beach and all inclusive as far as lunch and cocktails. You get a tour before and then 30 minutes of shopping in Montego Bay afterwards. A lot of poverty, drugs etc.

The next day we went to Grand Cayman , our favorite. Beautiful island, clean friendly. We went to Stingray island, Hell and The turtle farm. Could have skipped Hell but everything else was great.

Cozumel was OK. Definitely worth seeing the Mayan Ruins of Tulum, but the ferry boat over was extremely rocky, lots of seasickness going on,, then a 1 hour bus ride which had another shopping stop 10 minutes from Tulum. It was beautiful, on the beach, BRING YOUR SWIMSUITS! You can go swimming and it gets hot!!

Now the worst of our cruise was disembarking. They were trying a new system of self assist disembarking. It took 2 hours to get from our room to the pier. Mind you our arrival to the pier was late due to an illness on the boat so I believe people were panicking that they would miss their flights so everyone chose to take their luggage with them and stand in the stairways. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! Communication from the cruise director pretty much ended after 30 minutes into arriving at the pier and through everyone into a panic. Im sure this is not the usual but people were very upset.
