Majesty of the Seas - Bahamas

Sail Date: November 2005
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Miami

We decided to have an early Christmas. I work overseas and travel a lot, so you take what you can when you can. This was our 4th cruise on RCCL. We arrived in Miami a couple of days early. Bad Mistake. We stayed at the Best Western Oceanfront on Collins Avenue. Not the best choice. Room was booked 2 months in advance and they did not have it ready and then gave us the wrong room. The closest place to eat, was 6 blocks away. We won't do that again.

Embarkation -- PLEASE fill out the forms BEFORE you get there. Things go so well when you take the time to prepare. We could not have asked for a better experience. We had a 20 year old with us and even he was impresses.

Room -- We had a Junior Suite. EXCELLENT choice. This was the first time we had a balcony. If you can do it, make sure you get a balcony. The extra space is well worth it. Granted, the balcony is small, but you definitely utilize the heck out of it. The room had enough storage for our clothes as More well as the dive gear bag I had brought. The staff was excellent. He made sure we had all the things we needed and our bags arrived about an hour after we were on the boat.

The Ship -- She was showing her age in several places. Carpets were discolored, but we never smelled any sewage problems. I kept getting confused as to how to get around, but there were maps in every elevator portal. Of course we lost money at the casino, but my son won, so that was a wash. We really enjoyed the shows, Comedian was CLEAN and very enjoyable. Kinda nice to have a late evening comedian that wasn't using curse words to invoke humor.

The Food -- We had no complaints on the food. My son was scared he would "shoot the snails"(Pretty Woman) across the rooms. The staff was excellent. They were very attentive and were always trying to please us. They even offered their opinions on the food, if we were in doubt. We couldn't have asked for better staff. Go to the Windjammer for dinner one night. They have a pasta chef that is out of this world. It may take a little more time to get your meal, but REMEMBER, you are on vacation, RELAX and ENJOY the time you have.

Shore excursions -- We took the fishing trip out of Key West. Weather was crap, but the captain tried his best. There four of us on the boat. We all had an enjoyable time, until a wave broke over the boat and soaked my wife. November in Key West, temp at 76 and wet. You get the picture.

Disembarkation -- NO problems at all. We took a cab to the hotel since we were leaving the next day. Our son slept the entire day, so that should tell you he had a great time.

Overall This was very nice. We have decided to do this again, but during the warmer months. Excellent value for the money. Email me if you have any questions. Less
