I sailed on the Jewel of the seas, Eastern Caribbean itinerary, this was my first cruise. Ill start by saying that I thought it was amazing. I was with 3 other people who have sailed on Carnival, and NCL, we all agreed this was the best.
We flew down a day early and stayed in the Hilton hotel, in Ft. Lauderdale. They offered a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the port. We were able to board the ship by 2 and the boarding process was very easy, upon first entering the ship I was immediately in awe, the Jewel is absolutely stunning, maybe this is the feeling from a lot of first time cruisers, but it is definitely a beautiful ship.
We had no problems finding our cabin, a D1 superior ocean view with balcony, 1574. The room was nice, and bigger than I expected, before long our room attendant, Sastruwan (sp) arrived to introduce himself, and tell us about the muster drill. Before the muster drill we decided to scope out the ship and look around, the artwork, and dEcor is truly beautiful, I loved the glass ocean facing elevators, I remember walking on deck and thinking that I couldnt believe I was actually here.
