Our family of four (17 yr old son, 16 yr old daughter) sailed on Voyager 2/18/06. We had an inside cabin (we have a trailer so we're used to small spaces). Last year on Serenade OTS we had a balcony cabin; we honestly didn't miss the balcony as we were only in the cabin to sleep. I would recommend a balcony cabin for claustrophobic, or for a cruise with several sea days, but we were very happy with the inside choice.

Complaints: I have one small complaint myself but I'll address a couple others: 1). On the 5th day we had lunch at a table with an Indian family who had requested vegetarian meals before cruising; as of the fifth day they still weren't receiving veg menus. 2). RCL sells "coupon" books for $20. Two couples we met at Meet & Mingle, along with my wife did not find the books useful. Most of the same coupons were available free in San Juan & St Thomas (maybe in other ports they're a better deal, I don't know). 3). My own personal complaint: I bought a soda card but prefer lemonade or iced tea. these drinks were only available in the Windjammer (closed at times). I feel the free beverages should be easily available 24 hrs a day. Coffee, tea & hot chocolate are available 24 hrs a day at the Cafe Promenade. None of these complaints are major and they would certainly not prevent me from cruising RCL again.

Service: At first I thought our waiter, Victor, was aloof. It was more professionalism; he warmed up throughout the week and was very friendly and helpful with advice, not only about meals, but excursions and more. Our asst waiter Jamie was lots of fun. We showed our soda cards the first dinner and were amply supplied with cokes all week. Whenever he spotted us in the Windjammer he brought us cokes. On departure day he sought us out in the Windjammer and brought us four farewell cokes, certainly service above and beyond the call of duty. Our room steward was friendly and accommodating. I did not encounter a single staff member who was not totally cordial and helpful. In three cruises with RCL I have yet to encounter anyone who wasn't helpful and pleasant. Food: We've cruised the past three Februaries. I thought the dining room food was a slight upgrade from our Explorer and Serenade cruises. Our fussy daughter ate something new every night on the advice of our waiter and enjoyed everything. The Windjammer is nothing special, but has a good variety. Sandwiches, pizza, and desserts at the Cafe Promenade were excellent. We didn't try Portofino's; someone from our M&M did the first night. They described it as Five Star plus. One other food note: We had always eaten in the Windjammer for breakfast and lunch on previous cruises. This year I tried the dining room for lunch several times and thoroughly enjoyed the menu (steaks, salads, much more).
