On February 25th, 2006 my husband and I boarded the Carnival Glory for a seven day Western Caribbean cruise. We arrived in Orlando, Florida the night before and after a lovely evening and night spent at the very comfortable Crown Plaza our party of eight took a private service van for the 45 minute drive to Port Canaveral at 9 a.m. Phil of Precision Transportation (1-877837-0147) made sure we got there in plenty of time and pulled into a luggage area where we could have the porters unload for us and then take the bags right to our cabins on board. We tipped the porters about a $1.50 a bag and were on our way to the embarkation area for our 13th cruise experience. We are 55 and have taken cruises on Princess, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian in addition to the six we have taken on Carnival. Our travel agent did a great job with all the details as he always does.
Embarkation was handled well. We arrived very early (around 10:00 a.m.) and ended up being about sixth in line. We were checked in right away and waited in line for about one hour before we could get on the ship. We took our carry on bags with us to the Red Sail (buffet) and enjoyed our first meal of the cruise. We were able to go to our cabins at about 1:00 p.m.
Our cabin, 6456 had the usual lovely balcony and we joined our six other friends for our own sail away party. We toasted the long anticipated week of fun and relaxation that we were to share and were happy as we sailed out of Port Canaveral around 4:00 p.m. Our cabin steward, McDonald was great! He found a way to satisfy our every request and kept the cabin clean and our ice buckets full. He was very pleasant and did a wonderful job. Dinner in the Platinum Dining room was delightful!
