This was our second cruise on the Dawn, (7th cruise on NCL) having sailed last year in a BA balcony (11/04) to the Southern Caribbean. Four days prior to embarkation, we received a second call (they called a week before, but the price we too high) from the "upsell" desk offering us an upsell from our BA (we had booked a BE GTY and were assigned a BA) to an AC Penthouse -- it was a great deal, and one that we absolutely could NOT refuse! On top of the upsell, we were travelling for the first time with VERY good friends, so we were obviously very excited about this trip!

We used NCL's bus service from Providence, RI (no longer offered). We live in No. Central MA, so it was easier for us to drive to RI than to Boston, plus there's no charge for parking! We drove down to RI the evening before -- in white-out conditions, if you can believe that on October 29th! We spent the evening in a hotel very close to the bus terminal (Comfort Inn), reasonably priced, clean and comfortable.

We arrived at the bus terminal in plenty of time to catch the bus. We had LOTS of luggage, having decided to dress to the nines on formal nights, since we were sailing over my DH's birthday, had invites to the Garden Villa (thanks Donald & Cynthia!!) plus we had halloween costumes for the 31st. We brought a case of bottled water -- no problems having it tagged and delivered to our stateroom. BTW, our tags had our "old" cabin number on them -- I made labels with our new cabin # and location and stuck them over the old numbers and locations -- no problems at all. Ordered a bar setup which was in our stateroom when we arrived, along with champagne (two bottles, one from the anniversary package) and strawberries. We arrived at the port too late to be spoiled with priority embarkation afforded suite passengers -- the masses were pretty much gone by the time we arrived. However, Claudio, our concierge, was there to show us to our stateroom. Our AC Penthouse was FABULOUS! Plenty of room to move around, access to the HUGE closet from both sides (hallway side of the room as well as "bathroom" side. Robes arrived sometime during the evening. Luggage was delivered just after the lifeboat drill.
