We liked this one so much we did it again! The 2005 sailing was our second time on the Tahitian Princess and we have now done both the Cook Islands and Marquesas Islands itineraries. We love these sailings for the beauty of the South Pacific, the watersports, and the culture & people. You just can't beat the turquoise waters, white sand and beautiful reefs.
The ship is small and comfortable. We actually enjoy having fewer people on board--no waiting for poolside chaises, tenders, or alternative dining reservations. While I'm on dining, be sure to try Sabatini's for an outstanding fine dining experience and pace yourself! It's impossible to try everything they offer if you eat too much of any one thing. The crew seemed happy and gave excellent service, both the cabin stewards and the dining room staff.
Trying to decide between the Marquesas and the Cooks? We loved both, but they are different. Choose the Marquesas if you are more interested in authentic culture and beautiful, green jungle. There really aren't water sports there so it's all about the people, their history, and lush tropical foliage (though the other ports in that itinerary offer beach and water sports). The Cooks itinerary has more opportunity for water sports and offers beautiful scenery as well. Our favorite ports are Hiva Oa, Raiatea and Bora Bora. Rangiroa is also interesting; don't miss the drift snorkel there and look out for dolphins as you enter the channel in the morning.
