This was our third NCL Cruise. Previous NCL cruises have been on the Dream and the Pride of America. This ship was repositioned to Miami after New Orleans fell to Hurricane Katrina. The Itinerary was changed from Western Caribbean to the Eastern Caribbean.
Ports of call on this particular cruise were supposed to be Great Stirrup Cay, Tortola, St. Thomas, and Cayo Levantado, D.R. The first stop at Great Stirrup Cay (tendered) had to be cancelled due to high winds and seas at 12 to 15 feet. We were rerouted to Nassau which turned out to be my favorite port. The winds were very high that day but sunny. We docked and were only a few blocks away from what I thought was the best shopping of the entire cruise.
Tortola was a very picturesque island and fun to walk. Since we didn't do any of the diving or snorkeling excursions, I can only say that we heard from other passengers that they were great. St. Thomas was a major disappointment. I had heard that it was a shopper's paradise and I guess it is if you like shop after shop with the same inventory and prices. The streets were narrow and crowded and it was difficult to get around on foot. However, beautiful yachts and cruise ships kept your interest.
