1.21.2006 Sapphire Princess Cruise Review

Day 1 -- We departed DFW at 8:14 AM with a ton of luggage, 6 bottles of wine and a few Dr. Peppers (a Texas staple). Had a good AA direct flight to Long Beach. We decided to take a Prime Time shuttle ($35 for the two of us) from the airport to the Best Western Sunrise in San Pedro and arrived 10:15. The shuttle was a good choice because there was a wreck on the freeway that would of cost us another $20 in cab fare. We were able to check in when we arrived much to our surprise. The BW was in fair shape. As other have said, its okay for one night and the location is nice. Our "harbor view" room on the front street and was quite noisy. DW and I spent the day walking around seeing the cruise port, beach etc. We ate a good dinner at Acapulcos across from the BW and watched the NCL Star leave port. A nice teaser. All things said, we were glad we stayed in San Pedro.

Day 2 -- We had the continental breakfast that was included with the room and it was good, clean and fresh. We were signed up for the 10:30 free shuttle and there were only about 20 or so folks at the terminal since we left so early. We were assigned Group #1 to board. When we received our cruise cards I noticed that we were assigned Anytime Dinning. We had signed up for, and was confirmed for the 2nd seating Traditional. We went ahead and stuck with Anytime and it worked out fine. I must say, as others have, that there is really no difference being that Anytime Dinning seating was at 6 or 8 for the most part. We boarded about 12:45 PM and had lunch in the HC.
