The Jewel of the Seas is the most beautiful ship we've been on. We've sailed 3 different Celebrity ships and 4 RCCL ships and both my Husband & I thought that Jewel excelled in nearly every category. Embarkation took less than 10 minutes. Our room, a junior suite, was very nice. Roomy, LOTS of storage space, including a walk in closet, large bathroom and balcony. We were very happy with the choice and in fact are booked in the same cabin this December. Stateroom service was discreet and well done.

The entertainment was good, to very good. The RCCL singers and dancers were good and the shows were enjoyable. We didn't attend the other "main attraction" shows but found the other entertainment on board to be superior to that on the Celebrity ships and the variety was good. The dance band, classical guitarist, Rosario Strings, even the pool band, were all good and a pleasure to listen to. The service in the Dining Room was the most pleasant surprise. Having been pampered on 4 different Celebrity cruises we had no idea how RCCL would compare. Sally Ann and Alet our waiter and asst waiter did an excellent job and, again, beat our expectations. The food, on the whole, was better than other RCCL ships we've been on, and the only disappointment was the last night when the choices were not good and the quality not up to the previous nights, the service remained excellent despite the problems with the food.

Chops Grill was everything we had heard. The steaks were wonderful and service very good. We will definitely go again on our next cruise. We never got to Portofino's although we tried....which brings me to the only negative thing on the cruise. The stop at Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen was less than desirable. We tendered to Playa Del Carmen and after walking about a mile through town got on a bus to see the Mayan ruins at Tulum. Upon our return bus trip there was a car accident that delayed our return to the dock by about 1 hour only to find that due to our delay our tender to Cozumel had left and the next, and only, one wouldn't arrive for 2 hours. The cruise ship had no representatives at the dock and that was somewhat disconcerting since we were in a foreign country with darkness quickly approaching. We got back about 4 hours late but by then had missed our Portofino's reservation.
